Yoyo Szeto,,interesting shot...At first glance I thought it was a mono until I noticed the yellow windows and green grass...You have mananged to keep verticles verticle and horizontals horizontal which is a good thing...I do believe it needs human interaction but you can only use the resourses available to you..

    Re: Before Lego was invented

The problem here is that the reason for taking the photo, and what the centre of interest is, is not at all clear and that is a serious weakness in the photo.

    Re: Before Lego was invented

Hi Jurgen, Thanks for the kind words. In fact, I have thought about including passers-by in the shot but I did not figure out where to have them in the composition.

Hi Ronnoco, Thanks for raising the question. It helps me to have some introspection. I am glad that you commented on this shot.

    Hi Yoyo,

you have a great photo here, very sharp and the composition is just about right. I love this type of photo...always holds my interest.

Whatever you do, don't put any people into this photo.....it makes no sense to do it, they will add nothing bar distract from the overall. I tend to avoid people at all cost when photographing...they just get in the way !!

    Hi anew,
I am very glad that that shot works for you. I really cannot figure out how people can be added in this shot except in a staged shot.

Yoyo, I really dig it but then my perception may not be fully objective as this is my very kind of shot.

The tones, the colors and the luminosity (have you done some dodging/burning work?) allows for a shot with good visual impact. I think that you have framed the scene very well too.

Most people will probably think that it would need a defined subject (a pedestrian or perhaps a dragon lol). They may be right but I enjoy your photograph straight as it is.

    Hi Seb,
Thanks again for sharing your view and I am very glad that you like it. I shot this photo with +2/3 exposure compensation. The PS included a slight S-shape level adjustment and a selective colour saturation for the grass. By the way, a puffing dragon is a good suggestion ;)

Yoyo,,adding a person maybe only a passer by will add a focal point or point of interest..Somewhere to rest your eye after you have scanned the entire image..
Images like this can make a wonderful social comment say for example adding a homeless person etc..

Great shot. You also picked the perfect caption. The small color of green at the bottom is perfect.

    Re: Before Lego was invented

Great title. Nice piece of architectural realism. This is NOT an image or setting for including a person or passerby. The human impact is already present in the design and in the scarring of urban existence.

I would thing about perhaps changing the framing (or crop) along the right to not include the vertical power junction as it is of a different scale from the rest of the photo. It might even be cloned out successfully.

The two windows of smaller size on the right for me really make this photo from a pure composition standpoint. The inherent lines of the photo are forced to connect subconciously through them and thus provide a 'stepped' vanishing point guideline.

If there was a similar amount of brick wall on the right as there is on the left, it could make this image really jump out.

    Glad to see this one.

    Re: Before Lego was invented

Yoyo - Decent shot... I like it's flatness. I would crop out the bottom sideway/ground and make it even more flat however. I agree with Ronnoco that it does make one ask what the subject/purpose is here, but in this particular situation, maybe the lack of one and the repetition of similiar but slightly different windows is sort of it. Makes one ponder...

    Hi GB,
Thanks for the suggestion about the crop. I was attracted by the scene by its regularities and irregularities.
