Beach photos from a while back

Hey, I took these photos with my old camera about a few months ago.
I've always thought that they were pretty nice shots. What do you think about them?

They're both taken in Huntington Beach, CA. At the HB Pier.

This is one of the side of the pier

This one is from below the pier.
The cool thing is, at the time of when this picture was taken, the sky wasn't much lighter than in the first photo. The slow shutter that i had it on really sucked up a lot of light into the picture.

Not bad.... The first one I like better, it has a lonely, deserted (but not too so) look about it. But at the same time, I wish the lights weren't so dominating in the photo. At first I said "crop out the beach", but then, I started to like it. I now wish there was even more of the beach Night shots of beach are really neat if they're not too dark.

The second shot is OK but I guess it's a little too symmetric for me. Very surreal also, which is different. Colors shift a little on long exposures.
