Taken just before the fireworks began. Comments?

the first one is striking, I am not sure if I like it and I am not sure why I am unsure!

I suspect that if it was printed really really large I would love it!

    Re: Bay

For the first image, with the type of color mood you put in, I suspect you are trying to achieve a "minimalist" type of photo, if I am right...

My critiques from the perspective of "minimalist type of photo", if that was what you are trying to achieve.
    - I am exactly sure if the mood of the colour is the most suitable.
    - the background and background lights is alittle bit "all over the place" without a proper defined pattern to have minimalist effect.

    Re: Bay

The first one is quite dramatic. A good example of when to break the rule of not centering the subject.
The color is ugly but if that's what it was then let it be.
I agree with the Skyman that in a BIG print it would probably look better.

The fist one is excellent by all measures. There is no place for the second one with the first, you should remove it.

    Re: Bay

    Thanks guys -

Rossi, you are exactly right: I was trying to create a very simple, geometric shot, but the background lights are distractions that take away from that. Does it still work? Maybe .. it just isn't what it could have been if the lights weren't there.

PJ, I did think of that, but the fireworks were actually about 180 degrees behind me Maybe I could cut and paste them from another shot into this one?

Frog, Skyman, thanks for the BIG recommendations. However, this one isn't quite good enough .. the concept's alright, I think, but the background doesn't get it there. I like that color background BTW

Geraldb, the 2nd is just there for review, so no harm done. Glad to hear the first is OK.

    Re: Bay

Love the smoothness in the water

I do not like the pole right in the middle of the shot, and it bothers me more that it break the beach line

the tones are nice but I would have moved the vibrancy more to the right (you've seen my shots )
