    Testing the HDR waters...

I am very new to this. Not asking anyone to take it easy on me, just to realize that this is only my 3rd attempt at this. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Just thought I'd go ahead and add my first HDR image. The 2nd one never rendered out properly, it was a shame.

I think they look pretty good. Too bad about the blown highlights in the first photo. Some areas could be a tad brighter, too. Overall, that photo looks like a painting on my monitor. Composition-wise, I think you don't need that much water in the foreground of either of the shots.

an HDR guy I think is pretty good recommended using filters to allow a quicker speed and neutalize the worst factor..which is wind. Makes sence to me. I havn't tried too many myself.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!

You aren't supposed tohave burned highlights. You need another layer of exposure.

That burned out highlight in the mill picture is the sun. Not much I could do there.

I think it looks good, 'cept the burned out highlights. If the sun hadn't popped out it probably would have been perfect ! (calls for a reshoot) Really like the building but it seems ever so slightly titled / rotated CW. The second posting, I don't see anything unusual about it.. is it really an HDR?

Yeah, it is. Just a gray day. Not great for the dramatic look.

Most impressive. Your subject selection is excellent.

If you keep up this rate of improvement Almo, the HDR genii, Jacobus Kubica the Master of the 'tone mapping' technique ....http://kubica.deviantart.com/

and Makiek Duczynski the Master of the 'detail enhancing' technique ... http://www.lonelywolf.pl/

... will be have to find space for you on their front bench ...you're now batting 0.450. They both bat 1000 and are well worth learning from.

There is another technique you can try, the pseudo HDR, made from an individual TIFF or RAW exposure. Once you get this technique right, the pitfalls and extremes will have been well practiced and understood.

    WOW!

I don't think these guys have anything to worry about from me. However, I plan to stick with this form. I like creating these images.
