    Persnickety

Inspired by the Happiness thread, started by "bobbythebandit", I decided it was time I tried my own "kitty" shot. This is our tiger-striped cat named Almonzo, and he adds new dimension to the word "persnickety".

I apologize if this is too large. I cut it down to 1024x768, but I'm still searching for the best size, balancing screen room and resolution...

    Re: Persnickety

He's not that large (for my 1280x800 screen resolution, that's a perfect internet picture size, cant say the same for others with a 1024x768 monitor though...)

I love the cat's position, and facial expression ( "I hate snow...I hate snow...my feet are cold") but I'm undecided about the shadow he's walking into.

The wooden stakes in the background are a little bit distracting, but the picture is still good.

Good exposure on a tough shot.

Well, those "stakes" are actually the legs of an abandoned rabbit hutch in which he had just been sitting. I was in a hurry to catch him, so I couldn't do much about the shadow except lighten it a little. His expression could equally be saying, "I'm mad at the world...go away and leave me alone!"

I have no problem with the cat walking toward the shadow. He's well lit so that's allright with me. I like the cat posture but the framing seems too loose. I would cut some of the background.

Exposure is very good in this tricky scene. I think there is too much foreground and being that it is shadowed and unnatractive anyway, i would crop it from the bottom so that the shadow ends into the lower right corner of the frame. Cool Kitty!
