    Don't Fall In

    Flickr Page

Playing with short DoF, close focus, square crop, and HDR.

Seems like one of my more popular recent shots in my Flickr album

really nice, I think it brings out the best thing about HDR, the way it brings out intresting textures so nicely.

I read a tutorial the other day that suggested more important than light and colour is to consider the type of texture you look for when shooting for HDR.

Wow, the textures on that wood are beautiful, HDR really lends itself to this kind of image.. It almost looks as if you can reach 'into' the screen and touch the wood it's that clear and well defined. Almost seems '3D' to me!

Very impressed.. Can't offer any suggestions for how to improve it, like the image too much .

Mr Yuck. Being far from an expert.I have enjoyed this image. A great thread this is.Again...I have learned something.
I think I can see why it's popular. Quality composition,Precision HDR work! Texture, depth that stand out.
    Look forward to more.

I like the deep rich colors the angle and subject. Very nice image Mr. Yuck.

I think this is the first HDR photo that you have posted that I like.

Excellent - Can you give an indication of exposures of each of the images included and which HDR software use.

    Nice shot.

I can...but you might not like it
    Rebel XT (gf's camera)
    1/640
    F3.5 (overexposed slightly)
    ISO 100
    Focal Length 35mm
    Single RAW

Used Photomatix to convert to HDR and tonemap it, and then Fireworks MX to crop it.

Yeah, when I'm shooting with a DSLR, I pretty much ALWAYS overexpose on purpose.

    EDIT: Here's the original

    Hi Mr Yuck,
There is a great difference between the original and the final image. You have done a very good job.
