    b/w lichen
DOF too shallow? Mostly I shot it because i thought the patterns were interesting, any thoughts?

I'm thinking you're right on the DOF being too shallow. It appears soft at the edges of the lichen. Also, personally, I would like to see a color version if you have one. Maybe b/w isn't the right format, but that's just me. Additionally did you consider a macro shot with this? Maybe the textures would be a little richer with macro.

    Hello Payn
I agree. I dont think that this is the best candidate for b/w conversion. But I could be wrong. The branch in left background seems a bit distracting to me though.

here's the color version. It is shot as a macro, hence the shallow DOF. It didn't have alot of cracks or anything, it was just kind of wavy, like seen here. The color probably is better, I just love b&w for some reason :)

    Thanks for replying :)

I clearly prefer (by far) the b&w version. I do agree that the dof is too shallow. The textures are interesting tough.

I'm with Seb, the black and white is stronger. The color version just doesn't have that "pop" I think this photo would need. The texture is great however, and your right about the DOF.
