    B&W couple

Taken a few months ago at one of my favourite birding/photographing parks. I have 5 shots, in each the people are either closer to the camera or almost out of the frame. This one I thought the positioning was better, but I can post the others if anyone is interested.

B&W conversion done using "Channel Mixer", and I also played around with several other edits, including "Vignette" plugin. No cropping.

    Attachment 65240
    Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ7K
Other equipment: Hood adapter, filter frame, Tiffen UV Haze-1 filter
    Aperture: F4.5
    Shutter-speed: 1/1300 second
    ISO: 100
    Lens focal length: 21.6 mm
    Focal length 35mm equivalent: 130mm
    Shooting mode: Aperture-priority

    Re: B&W couple

I think the position of the couple is about as good as it can get in this composition.
    Why so much noise?

Thanks for the reply, Frog. I don't know about the noise, maybe due to the conversion process...?

Also my FZ7K always shows lots of noise at all ISO's... unlike the PENTAX which I use almost exclusively now.

    Re: B&W couple

Again lovely shot. I'd crop out the bush though in the foreground left hand bottom corner, i.e. crop to the road? The noise gives it a nice character in my opinion. S

At first glance, I'm wondering why is the structure "floating?" -- but another nano second and it was easy to see it was not! I like your composition and I see the noise as lending an artsy twist that I like.

Thank you both for the comments, shootme and Paula.

Paula – The base of the tower is hidden behind bushes. I see what you mean by "floating", that visual effect happened to me as well!

    Hey Alex,

Minus the noise, I like the composition and tones on this one.

Excellent composition here but the noise is too much and perhaps there has been some over sharpening also. But it would not take much to turn this into a great all round shot.

Timeless shot. Composed very nicely. Looking at such a pleasant scene makes one feel groovy.
