    Leaves

A variety of leaves mixed in plants at Falls River Park in Greenville, SC, shot in late summer 2010. C&C if you have time.

hey john, i think what hurts this shot for me is the very light areas of the photo. the almost white edges of that one plant throw it off for me. i wish the tones where more of the darker green/purple/etc. all the colours are nice .but that area is so bright it takes over the complete shot.

    Re: Leaves

OK, well, those were the actual colors of the leaves. That's what struck me when I saw the plants off to the side of the sidewalk. The sun wasn't out in full force that afternoon, so I just shot with available light. So you think I should change the colors?

Ooh I love the graphic treatment. Once in a while this is really neat, but not too often. In this case you do justice to the subject.

OK, it would be interesting to see this. If someone wishes to edit this photo, it's fine with me!

    Re: Leaves

The very bottom of the plant seems a little out of focus to me. A lot of detail higher up on it and then it seems to blur as it gets to the tip. Maybe need more DOF on this, though it might not have been possible with the given light.

    Re: Leaves

john, no i don't think changing the colours would work because it's an issue with lightness, even if you turn this whole thing to black and white, those areas would still stick out. I think this type of shot works best with 'healthier' leaves.
