    Another try at B&W

I'm still trying my images in B&W. I took this picture today (7/22/06) after the rain had stopped.

i like it, however i think it would be easier on teh eye if the man and dog were seperated alittle bit, instead of overlapping.

the sky could use some more clouds to make it alittle more interisting to.

    Re: Another try at B&W

The very first thing that jumps out at me and slaps me in the face is the fact that the contrast is muddy. A few years back there was this girl I was interested in who shot awesome B&W photos. She told me the key to making them great was to try to acheive a "definite white" and a "definite black." This was back when I was still shooting with film because Digital was crazy expenisive for just a handful of pixels.

If you have PS or PE, use the black eyedropper and the white eyedropper from the "Curves" on the darkest/brightest pixel in your image.

I also think the boat is not needed. I'd have perferred to see just the lighthouse and the guy with his dog.

    Much better!

BTW, my tip on fixing the contrast is just one of many ways to change it. I'm sure many people have better ways or quicker ways to to do it.
