And another one
Any tips for making it darker without making it look weird? I tried lowering the brightness in PSE but it just changed it in strange ways that I am not sure I like. I will add that in later. And do you think a different crop ratio would work better?

Re: And another one
#2 looks better I think. I'm not too familiar with pse, but from what experience I do have, you do have the option of using layers and burning. First off I would make sure you're using the exposure tool if you can rather then brightness. If there is an exposure option in pse, then you could also duplicate it to a darker layer and just mask out the boy. It's pretty simple once you get familiar with the controls. I like the crop as it is.

It's really hard to tell how well this works with such a small file but I tried this:
duplicate layer
set blend mode to "multiply"
adjust opacity to taste - in this case 50%
Keeps the vibrancy of the colors while uniformly darkening everything up.

Oh I do like that. That was my main issue, I didnt want to lose the vibrant colors, and that was the problem I kept having.
