    Another from Brighton
    Hi all

This is another one I quite like from my trip to Brighton with overbeyond. The ruined West Pier in the background is the site from which I shot the "Red Sails" one. This one is more conventionally composed, but has (I think) some compositional interest.

    Any comments are much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Mike

I wouldn't change a thing. The persons red clothing really adds something for me.

    Good one.

It's a very clean shot, poster perfect in a way, well done. I should try and make it to the UK some time, probably only about 3 hours to get to Dover and an hour or so to Brighton?

I like it Mike. I do see a spot in the water on the right, Maybe water on the lens? Your pictures seem to get better and better. You were on your game here.

Mike you nailed this one. The position of the lady on the blue surface is perfect. This is a winner.

    Thanks guys :)

Greg .. it seems to be sensor dust - just proving that even dust shakers don't always work: still, it was the only frame from the day's shoot to have it and it was easy to fix.

Tom - thanks .. have a look at the other one I've put on the critique - and I look forward to seeing some of yours.

shootme - let us know if you ever make the trip!

tony - thanks. One thing I learned in club photography is to get something red in there when you can! :D

I have corrected the sensor dust issue, and also tidied up the horizon far left and a little piece of intrusive blue on the left. The differences are too minor to justify reposting, but you can see it at: http://www.mikedalesphotography.co.uk/photo1833118.html

    Cheers

Love the floaty pier ,almost ghostly, contrasting with the modern red girl and blue path.

I like the subject matter for me I would not have the person in the picture and I would have shoot the platform (pier?) not so dead on. great colors great capture.

Very nicely done, Mike. The red coat was perfect for this.Had she wore a typical brown or other darker color it would not have had the same impact.
    nicely composed.

I noticed the blue on the left after I commented the first time, great job regardless.

I just have to say that I love it as it is... but something kept me checking and checking...

The horizon is ever so slightly tilted to the left... I did get a digital ruler, and showed it... although as far as I can tell, the pole is straight up.... might be just an illusion... but anyway...

Also, the blue patch on the left, as tony said, could be taken out....

It is one heck of a wonderful shot though, regardless of the small nitpicks.... Beautiful

Marcus .. thank you for your kind words. As I said, I had removed the blue and levelled the horizon, as well as removing a little sensor dust spot on the right. It prints up really well too :)

Just to eliminate any confusion, this is the edited (and final) version.

Once again, thanks to everyone who commented.

Do you carry a red coat in your camera bag, or are you just lucky ?

    Re: Another from Brighton
Mike - Congrats in making the Sticky. I like your shot here but think it's actually several shots in one. I crop out the structure out and the focus is more on the woman and swirl. The structure itself could be another shot, though a boring one if alone. The sky seems to play a strong supporting character here, and the swirl almost seems like it is glowing. The only part that I do not like is the pole, which seems in the way - but it does add another geometric object to a shot already chuck full of them, and I think that makes this shot an example of geometry in the man-made world.

Anyway - congrats again on the sticky. That swirl blue keeps glowing, even as I type this..

Congrats on the sticky. I coulda sworn I commented on this one before. Love all the shapes, textures and colours here. Just a variety of great things that pull all this together. The figure also adds greatly to this shot.

    Well done!
