    Amstel Walk

Another shot I got on my way home the other day. We always have the best clouds here. Hope you enjoy

BTW. My girlfriend and I just started up our new Travel-Photo-Blog. Come check it out if you some time.

    It is a beautiful image.

For myself I try to avoid splitting the image in half (with the sky and water about equal in the frame). Since the sky is quite interesting and the water in the foreground fairly flat, I'd aim the camera a little higher or crop from the bottom up to the reflections of the lights.
    No, I DON'T need that.

On the right it seems about the golden ratio.
On the left, nearer 1/2 but below centre.
I think the proportions are about right on this image.

This is a beautiful image, but I have to agree with MB1 -- I think it would be a much stronger image with the bottom border cropped to the light reflections and more of that sweeping expanse of cloud providing a pathway for the eye.

Nice shot. I agree with cropping the shot, but the only thing that puts me off a touch is the colours, or lack of in the shot. It's very blue and yellow, which don't go too well for me in these sorts of shots. I'd like to see the same shot without the street lighting and with more ambient light, either around dawn or dusk, ish.
Please have a look and leave a comment or three...

I agree with everyone about the centered horizon. You do have a great subject and beautiful colors. I would try cropping it just where the reflection from the lights start on the right. That makes the colors in the sky the subject with the lighted buildings a frame, drawing the eye up into the clouds. It really is a nice photo. You've got a good eye and the technique is good. You just need to work on the composition a bit. Thanks for sharing
