Bittern that is. This was a quick snap out the window of my car while out driving this weekend. It was shot with my Digital Rebel and EF 100-400 IS lens. The second shot was from later that evening. Again the digital rebel and 100-400 were used but this time I also had a Tamron-F 1.4x TC attached for a little more reach.

Penny, American bitterns spend nearly all there time in high grasses.
the top image is a nearly perfect example of the way they hide when threatened, the second is a typical hunting pose ;)
these image are quite nice, as I know how hard they are to get close to(usually) due to the BG being nicer
I find both to be nice, but the top image is more pleasing (to me)
