Alot of wood
i went to a wood mill a little while back to see how the timber i used in my industry was produced and to get an idea of the scale of the logging going on in Victoria Australia, this is a good shot i got the planks drying in the sun, this streches for 2km, just over a mile and is about 7 columns wide, converted to black and white and made fairly dark, but i like it that way,

Nice shot. I think the right side is a bit dark as you observed, but it works in general. Side note: I just got to see a log-mill in Montana... absolutely unreal how many trees they fell. However, it's also amazing how much a little logging can prevent forrest fires from spreading across multiple states and charring millions of acres of timber.
*steps onto soap box*
The tree huggers in this country are just out of control in some areas. They're demanding policies that are actually unhealthy for most of the forrests they're concerned about (very dense, multiple generations of trees, lot of tree rot on the forrest floor, etc.).
One day everyone from latest-craze dieters to tree conservationists will learn the meaning of the work "balance". Our nation in general has a problem with this concept; all you have to do is watch a few channels of television for 20 minutes or so to see that we respond to "all things unbalanced". Kind of pathetic really.

well done
under standard circumstances I agree the left side is way dark but because you still retain quite a bit of detail it really makes it a very clean image...very nice....

Thanks, its been a while since ive posted and its good to see that you all are still around,
on the pic, i like the darkness, kinda makes you feel small in comparison to the piles? well thats what i think. thank you again for the coments
ps i agree with your ideas on logging!!

those rotting trees provise nutrients for the new and old growth trees ;) wild fires in california are caused by clearcutting btw ;)
the best way to log is to manage the land by selective removal in my opinion.
btw... I was an arborist for many years and the only tree hugging i did was 80 feet up in the wind ;o
the image.... having been to a few lumber mills, i must say that it's par for the course to have that much in logging areas. my suggestion for a more even exposure would be to try shooting on a cloudy day. looks good as is to me though
