    Paws-ing for a moment

Snapped this as my mother's Jack Russell pup finally slowed down after a long day. Comments welcome, just a slight crop and some auto contrast and tone in CS4.

So that's what they look like. I've never seen one that wasn't just a blur. :-) TF

Its a nice family photo. The eyes and face are too dark though and I think it would have been better if you'd moved to his left and just got his head to fill the frame. The long blurry body sticking out is only distracting.

    Re: Paws-ing for a moment

    Frog, I disagree almost completely.
My monitor is calibrated, and it looks a faithful reproduction of the scene.
I think it needs the body there, and the background is distracting.
    Crop that background away.
Take it from the top down to the same distance the head is off the bottom of the frame.
Maybe even to half that if you want the dog to fill the frame.

You could enhance it a bit more with a sharpen tool around the eyes.
Which I am glad to see are the focal point - not the tip of the nose.

I agree with Paul. I actually like the bokeh blurring the body out. But the upper background is distracting.

    What a cutie!

Thanks for the thoughts all, haven't had a chance to edit and repost but have taken some notes. Always learning right?

I think it a lovely photo and the lighting is perfect on my monitor.

I agree about the top part being a bit distracting but with animals you take what you can get.
