Photos from NCAA event from stands

    Question for you guys....

I took some photos of the Michigan and Ohio State gymnastics meet tonight.. I don't know what legal restrictions there are for me to use them. I want to make some photos for my son and put them on his wall as well as maybe post a few here in the sports forum. I will not be selling them, but one of the parents of the gymnast would like some of her son to have for her "scrap books"...

Is there any restrictions that I would be violating? I have some nice ones of her son and this was his last meet (he rocked) and she just wants some keepsakes.....

    Any help is appreciated...

The venue the event was at will probably have a policy for photos taken inside. But since they're not going to be published in a magazine or anything like that, you should be fine. They only get upset if you start making a bunch of money without being able to take a cut for themselves, haha. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how this one would work. You should be fine.

    WC...

Thanks..... There were several people in the gym taking pictures and after the meet we were able to go onto the floor for autographs and pictures with our cameras...

I just don't want a "knock on my door" so to speak and get in trouble for giving some pics to a parent for their memory books..

Everything you described is absolutely fine, no worries at all.

??? Actually You should check with the NCAA if it was "their" event they have control, not the venue. And the NCAA has very strict policies on photos and sales. Posting in the sports forum is OK, but sales are a whole nuther thing.

I am not going to sell them. They are nice for a keepsake, but that is all. They are not "pro quality". Just nice to have for a mom who did not have a camera on her sons last meet....

    Thanks JS....

You giving another parent photos of thier kid for a scrapbook is no different than me giving photos of my kids to thier grandparents.

If you were planning on selling to the parents, you would run into some issues, but not for giving a neighbor a couple snapshots.
