    Event photo hosting and selling
I am shooting a 5k and will be hosting and selling photos, no idea where to even begin I need a reliable website and easy service.

I could just post them on my flickr and set it to private then allow them to tell me what photos and then ship it to them.

there has to be an easier way!

For my events that I shoot I post them to my account on Exposuremanager.com. There are other numerous websites as well that do the same thing, such as Smugmug, Printroom for example.

I've been with EventPictures.com for 3 years now. No complaints. Doesn't look as slick as smugmug or pictage's interface, but I believe they have the lowest overall cost structure which means more money in your pocket. 100+ products to offer and immediate digital downloads for your clients if you want to sell those. It's also an upload-once and forget model meaning you upload the full res image and you don't have to worry about keeping a live connection or uploading an image each time one is purchased. Love the system.
