    celeb pics
Say someone walked up and sold me some celeb pics that were unbelievable and nobody has ever seen. What are the laws on selling them to a magazine. I paid 100 bucks for these pics. Can i legally turn around and sell them to a magazine/tabloid?

The photographer automatically owns them and you don't have the right to resell them without the photographer's permission. So I would not try to sell them if I were you. Technically, you would be stealing them from the photographer if you don't have written permission.

Well, there is something called the "First Sale" doctrine. What that means, if you buy a painting, you may resell that one, physical painting to someone else. Same with CDs, or photographs. However, your rights only extend to the physical thing itself. Therefore, you could not sell them to a magazine b/c you do not own the right to publish them. You could, however, sell them to another individual for his own personal use (ie, display in his home).
