Will screwmount lenses work with k20d or k7?

I have a old pentax spotmatic lying around with a "Pentax Screw mount 50 F1.4 SUPER TAKUMAR (49) lens" Will it fit on the k20d or the new k7?

I don't believe so. K-mount lenses will fit. But I think you'll need an adapter for the screw mount lenses. If you can use them they won't have any auto focus or auto exposure. That might seem obvious but some people think that an auto focus camera means that the old lenses will magically be upgraded to all the new features :)

I actully like the fact that i have to manually focus and have a aperture diaphragm. But am not found that it says I need to have it on stop down mode for metering :eek: Might be tough too shoot at a high f-stop

If the adapter dosen't look like this one don't buy it. I have a nice small set of M42 lenses and they are some of the best manual lenses out there. Pentax K mount cameras will work with any lens they ever built. Some need a inexpensive adapter but they are just fine. If you ever want to sell the lens let me know.

Im now debating if I should get a k20d as a back up body. The price is to low to pass up. Thanks again

I have to STRONGLY disagree with this statement.

Although the Pentax adaptor is very good, other brands of adaptors work just as well. I have been using M42 lenses on my Pentax cameras for years without any problems and I dont use a Pentax brand adaptor. My adaptor has an inner flange to keep the pin pressed in on all lenses without the auto switch. This allows me to use a wide variety of M42 lenses that otherwise would have caused me headaches.

Your Tak will work fine on the K20D and K7. Just get an adaptor.
