    D FA 100 1st shot
This was shot out my truck window, at a red light.......Grab shot, I know.
Focused and metered off the sign.
Somehow, I like the bleakness of it.
It's what it feels like around here.

$1.99 for a car wash...do they use soap???? hehe..
Actually tho'...interesting shot...I like "grab" shots...they show life how it really is.
I agree with your thought on the "bleakness" of the shot...you captured that very well. My only complaint is that it is a little busy!!! But then, you are around a GM plant and so, I guess with all that stimulus money, everyone is lining up to get their share...hehe...
A question tho'...is that ice or residue under the letters of the sign???
    Nice capture.

Yepperz they use soap....Make the kids who work there pay for thier own advertising tee shirts though.
Sure is busy.....It was rush hour too. Lucky to get any shot at all.
The tech center is mile square complex of buildings designed by Eero Sarinen.
It's an engineering and design center.
That's not ice on the sign. It's just getting delapitated.

I wouldn't call it an anachronism. While it is convenient to choose your composition in post, having a rectangular sensor means that if you have a rectangular composition, with appropriate lens choice you will be able to avoid waste. I also take issue with calling it a '1.30x' crop, as when you look at it, your horizontal field of view retains the 1.5x crop, while your vertical FOV goes to a 1.0x crop. 1.3x crop implies that horizontal AND vertical field of view are larger than APS-C but smaller than 35mm.
