    XZ-1 Digital Zoom Conundrum
Hi everyone, just found the forum after buying the XZ-1.

I'm still working my way through the menus/options/features but I'm really stuck with one. I want to turn on the digital zoom but the menu option is greyed-out! There's probably a conflicting setting but I don't know what it is.

    Can anyone help, please?

Perhaps you're in iAuto mode on the dial?
I found lots of things get switched off with settings, particularly the Flash, and the RAW saving get turned off when the dial gets knocked getting the camera out of my pocket.

It took me a while to turn OFF the digital zoom, because it doesn't do anything that I can't do later in Lightroom, and when saving JPG files I can't edit the result.
I always shoot in RAW mode and use 4G cards as minimum size (I prefer 8G) so there's enough room for a decent length video.

Thanks for that, Paul, but it's not the answer I'm afraid.

I did briefly see the option when I strayed into custom mode and changed it to 'on' but couldn't get it to 'stick'. I don't understand custom mode yet and the manual isn't much help.

    Edit:

I've just uploaded an image to my gallery. It appeared following the upload but now I can't find it. Any ideas? You'll have to get used to some more basic questions until I find my way around the site!

I'll try twiddling the dials on mine.
The manual is rather short on details on what works in what mode.
And I've found in the wrong mode things don't stay selected.
    But I can't remember which mode :(

My main interest was getting RAW file saving on, and not using jpg.
I particularly wanted digital zoom off, and succeeded.

So I'll try turning it on again.

P.S. good to see another UK member !
