Question 1st Time SLR owner...Q on the flash

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post! I just purchased my first ever dslr today. [Olympus E-510] It's a secondhand one and it was also my first time ever even holding one! :blush2:

I got to play around and get to know my camera for a few short hours today and have Q regarding the flash.

The flash flickers and sounds fizzy? Is that normal? I apologize if this is a silly question but I have no idea if that is normal.

    Any replies will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes that's normal. The camera pre flashes so it has enough light to focus I think there is a way to turn that off. But I would have to check. It is annoying to subjects.
I am like Barney Fife, I have a gun but Andy makes me keep the bullet in my pocket..
