    Shutter release with Universal Remote
I read in PC World that a Universal Remote as used for a TV can trigger the shutter release for digital cameras. Anyone know what 4 digit code or "device" will trigger the shutter release for the Olympus E-510?

I checked with Mr. Google and it seems with some cameras this may be possible. Personally I have never tried it. The Olympus remote isn't that expensive though. I have always just used to timer. Unless you plan longer exposures than 60sec I would just use it.

I paid $8 for a remote for my E510, works fine. And, it's the size of a piece of gum. Universal remotes are HUGE!

In other words, I don't know the code...I do know that remotes are cheap.

I have heard the same thing about other brands of cameras as well. Like the others have said, the remotes for the cameras are pretty cheap, and much smaller than the TV remotes.
