    IS for OM lenses

Firmware 1.3 is out for the 510 and an update for the E3 is out. It adds image stabilization for OM and non 4/3rd lenses. So now if you buy an adaptor you can use your OM and non 4/3rd lenses and also use the image stablization. When you turn on the IS it give you the option of selecting what oM lens you are using. Hmmmm now I may look at a OM 50mm. I ran the update without any problems.

I so wish I could figure out why my firmware will not update. I tried using 4 different USB cables and 3 different computers and still no luck /shrug.

    Re: IS for OM lenses

Here is how I do it. Plug the camera up and Start Olympus Master 2. Click Camera>update camera. Turn on the camera and click on storage. Then click OK. The software will search for camera and lens updates. Highlight any updates and then click ok. Then just follow the instructions. Make sure your battery is fully charged and any lens you need updated is on the camera. Click the link

Yup that's exactly what I have done.. and I get the error "Failed to communicate with camera" I called and was told that the only way to update it would be to send it in for service.

Mine did that several times too. What OS system are you running. XP and have you updated Oly Master lately? You could always send it to me and give me a try at it. I'm cheaper.LOL

That's what I run. Not sure what else to tell you to try, but I did have a time getting mine to connect the first time. Only other idea I have is to try another computer.

    Re: IS for OM lenses

I have a bumper to bumper 3 year warranty after the factory warranty expires... so if it goes in I am gonna get it for free anyway lol... and it will save me the shipping costs. MY E500 is in right now getting the shutter fixed again. If it breaks one more time I get a brand new E510 to replace it... hoping for another "oops" let me tell you lol.

I was having this problem and finally it worked. I think my problem was when I plugged the cable into my camera I didn't push the "OK" button when the menu came up. (The menu that says "Storage/HTP/Control/Easy Print". It wouldn't update or even connect to transfer photos until I pressed "OK" on "Storage".

    Hopefully this helps.

    Re: IS for OM lenses

Hi guys, have been trying this update myself and it isn't working for me either, so it's possible that it's a "north of the 49th" thing at this point. Will let you know if I get it to work.

Incidentally, I have been working with an OM Zuiko 50mm 3.5 Macro and an OM Tamron 90mm 2.5 Macro on my 510 and although it's a bit early to be really definitive they seem to be working quite well. Have only used a tripod so IS isn't a problem, but nailing the focus and getting the depth of field right definitely is. Am still working on that.

BTW, I have an OM 50mm 1.4 lens that should make a sweet, very fast short telephoto if it works well. More on that later, too.

Thanks for the advice, Greg and metallicblack, and hang in there Jaedon; it will come.
