    Olympus RM-1
    Hi,

A very newbie question, I am a complete beginner and was trying to use the remote for shutter release , I set the camera to BULB on manual mode and tried to fire the remote but nothing happened, I used the remote to step through viewing pictures so I know at least that function of the remote is working.

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong with shutter release ?

In the LCD you need to go to the section that lets you change it from single shot to burst shot. When you open that up you will see 2 things that look like a remote with a lightning bolt shooting out of it. One is for 2 second delay the other is imediate firing. Hope this makes sense. I did the same thing when I first got my remote.

    bikefreaz,

Thank for the reply , and you were correct and I used this function to fire the shutter to the preset times in manual modes ie 1 / 2 / 4 / 10 / 30 seconds etc etc. :)

    but...

I still cannot get it to operate in BULB mode , each time I fire it just takes the picture immediatly.

I have never tried in buld mode but remember that in bulb mode the shutter stays open as long as you hold the button down. OK I was just playing with mine and my E-510 and if you press the w then the shutter will stay open until you hit the t. I could not get mine to work in bulb mode but hitting the circle button. Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I have worked out how to use the BULB mode.

    1) If I hold down the shutter release button on the infa-red remote for as long as I wish.

but I would like to know if there is a lock facility with an olympus RM-1 ?

In BULB mode you press W to open the shutter and T to close the shutter.
