Olympus E-30 In Da House - Video!

I got the Olympus E-30 a few days ago and made a box opening video yesterday:

I'll be doing some testing today and should have a short preview article with sample photos up this evening!

Re: Olympus E-30 In Da House!

I've shot about 3 GB of photos with the E-30 since I opened it up, yesterday. I just finished downloading the images and haven't had a chance to look closely at them yet. The auto focus (same as the E-3) is very nice. I shot a bunch of continuous AF ski photos this morning and they look pretty good - at least on the LCD. I was skeptical of the Art Filters. But after actually using them I think they're pretty cool and I'm having fun with them. In particular, I like the Soft Focus and Pin Hole filters.

As soon as I'm done shooting studio tests and looking at the photos I'll post a short preview article on the E-30. So far I'm liking it and think it's definitely a nice upgrade for someone who wants more than an E-510 or E-520 has to offer.

    Ski Photos

I posted some ski photos taken with the E-30 in my blog. I'm working on more and still plan to have a short hands-on preview article up tonight. In the meantime, here are some photos taken with the newest Olympus:

Thanks for looking. If you've got questions about the camera, feel free to ask. That's why I'm here

Also whats your 2c on the E3 vs E30 question?

Assuming you can get an E3 new for about 1200 USD now, and the E30 commands 1300.

edit: just checked and now a new E3 goes for about 1100 reliably on Ebay.

Re: Olympus E-30 In Da House - Video!

Hopefully the price of the E30 will drop after it has been a few weeks, but it is a different camera all together from the E3. The E30 is much smaller than the E3 and the E30 is packed with new features. New sensor ect. I wonder about IQ over the 520? Time will tell and PJ's full review should be an interesting read.
