    Olympus 50 - 200mm lens

I’ve been practicing with an Olympus E-500 for over a year now and would like to upgrade to a better camera sometime next year. I would like to upgrade from the Olympus 40 - 150 lens at this time that I received with the camera to an Olympus 50 - 200. I have an opportunity to purchase a seldom used .. non-SWD lens .. at a very low price from a friend.

My question is … Is there that big a difference between the SWD lens and the non-SWD lens to justify paying twice the price?

optically, there is very little difference. Pretty sure it's just the shape of the diaphram petals. If it's in good shape for a good price, buy it.

I think SWD makes it focus faster on he E3. I have never read one bad comment on the 50-200mm. I would get it.

Go for it......I have no experience with this lens, but have seen some beautiful images that other photographers have gotten from this lens.
