    E520 or E620 kit?
Hi i am new to the forums my name is Chris,
I am looking at both the E520 kit and the E620 kit on amazon.
    Olympus Evolt E520 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Zuiko Lenses[/B]
    or
Olympus Evolt E620 12.3MP Live MOS Digital SLR Camera with Image Stabilization and 2.7 inch Swivel LCD w/ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 ED Zuiko Lenses
There is like $166 difference in price,
Is there that much difference between the 2 SLR cameras?
This is my first SLR to ever own.
I plan on taking it with me to Shanghai China This summer to take some nice photos,
Also i heard that these cameras can use other brand lenses example like canon?
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks,Chris

They can use other brands but to the date they can use Sigma, Panasonic and Zuiko (Olympus) that I know of.
Canon, Nikon and other brands do not have lenses with 4/3 mount AFAIK.

I dont have any experience on the e-520 or E-620, some other members should have some comments on the matter.
What I can tell you is that there are better lenses out there than the ones you mentioned (kit lenses) by no means they are bad, actually for the money they are pretty good but I might suggest to buy only the body and check on the 12-60mm or 14-54mm Zuiko´s, they are better than the 14-42mm kit lens. If you want a telephoto like the 40-150 go for the previous version of the current model, this "older" lens is better and you can get it used from 70-120 bucks.

The 620 has more features than the 520 and a bigger image sensor of 12 megapix. The 620 has art filters, multiple exposure, and a swivel lcd screen. Either one will get the job done. Photo John has used the 620 a lot and loves it for it's compact size. Yes there are other brand lenses you can use as long as they are 4/3rd mount but I think the two lens kit would be more than enough for you.

That is a nice cheap lens, but no, No canon lens has a 4/3 mount.

You are pretty much going to have to stick to Olympus, Sigma or Panasonic to get a 4/3rd mount. Olympus has a couple of really nice primes if that is what you are wanting. But I do think the kit lens will serve you well.

    Re: E520 or E620 kit?
How do the ISO compare on each camera?
I wanna make sure i can take night shots just as good as a day shot,
Yeah i think the 2 lens that come with the kit is my best bet money wise,
I still have to think about a carrying case and i want a 8gb or 16gb card for image storage,
Thank for the help so far every one,

I own the 620, it depends what kinda of night shots you are looking to take, to control noise I tend to work with a longer shutter speed to compensate for a lower ISO, the 14-42 is a good lens though sometimes I wish it had more reach. I was in the same situation as you, it was either the 520 or the 620, I can say I'm honestly happier I went with the 620.

The lowest ISO, I think the 620 is 160 ISO but am not sure. Get a good sturdy tripod if you want to shoot at night. CF cards also write to the card quicker than Xd.

    Re: E520 or E620 kit?
Just checked the lowest ISO is 100, I don't know if it works out to actually be ISO 100 but the next step up from that is 125 then 160.
