Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
Hi there,
I'm looking for a camera with a pretty specific list of criteria:
1. I have to fit a fisheye adapter or fisheye lens on the camera to get a 180 degree view
2. It has to be 8 megapixels or better
3. It has to have a small form factor - 5 inches wide or smaller
4. It has to be relatively cheap ($200 used preferably)
5. It has to be supported by the Olympus SDK - I've listed the models supported below.
Unfortunately I don't know enough about all of the Olympus models to know where to begin looking. Can anyone here help me out?
Thanks very much,
Ted

Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
The E-510 can be had used for a couple hundred but the fisheye lens is gonna kill you :)
Cheers, Don
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
Yep. I agree with Don. The 510 would fit right in, but look out on the fisheye. Really no cheap way around that one. You can Photoshop a fisheye effect pretty easily.
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
Thanks guys. Okay, I'll look into the 510. I'm doing panoramic HDRs so the fisheye is a big help - fewer rotations. I have a Nikkor which I use for my Nikon - it's great. But I was hoping I could find something cheaper (and used) for an Olympus.
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
Hmm, the fisheye really isn't appropriate for panorama's.
You may want to look at the 9-18mm, it's quite reasonable in price.
Cheers, Don
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
Are E-510s going for 200 already?
You can certainly find an E-500 for 200 if you look.
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
You can do nice panos with the kit lens. It just takes software to stitch the images.
Re: Advice on older Olympus DSLRs
I agree with Don's suggestion of the E-510 with the 9-18mm. I just got the 9-18mm and am pleased with the results so far.
