What is Your Internet Speed?

What is your internet speed? A similar survey was taken on another site and the numbers were substantially higher than what I usually get. If you get slow service, does that impact your photographic business at all?

Using speedtest.net, when I have service at all, I get download speeds of 1.2 Mbps and an upload speed of a mere 0.05 Mbps. This is using the only viable "broadband" in my area, Verizon Business DSL service. I hate to think what normal Verizon home user DSL service is like.

What do you get and who provides it?

Oh yeah, the same speedtest.net site shows 12 - 15 Mbps at the college ten miles from here (Comcast cable).

AT&T DSL High Speed Internet Pro. Specs say it is 1.5 up to 3.0 Mb/s.

Using JackDinn's Auto Speed Tester running every 10 min (not always running), last 272 samples:

Download (Kb/s): Average= 2315 Min=342 Max= 2665

Below Advertised 1.5Mb/s= 5.5%

Upload (Kb/s): Average= 340 Min= 98 Max= 389

Sold as "up to" 16Mb and I'm only 200 yards from the exchange !
But once I try to user servers in to USA it drops to 3.3Mb (Miami) or 1.6Mb (Tampa).

OR 0.75MB down and 96KB up.

My speed tests put me at exactly what was advertised.

At work we chose to be throttled to 10mbs but we had the option of choosing up to 100.

I can't wait till the National Broadband Network is built, They will be offering baseline speeds of 20mbs with fibre to the house to over 90% of Australia.

I'm on a NorfolkLine ferry, headed to Dunkirk from Dover.
Yet my PoP is in Denmark, because they're now part of DFDS.

Depends on if I"m on a wired connection or wireless, but just started renting a friend's house who moved out of state for a job. He's running a server out of the garage and we're sharing his fiber internet. 25mb down (burstable to 50) and spec'd to 50mb up but it actually clocks in around 72mb up. That's if I'm hardwired in. He's more concerned with upload because of the server which is running Internet streaming for a radio station. Unfortunately my main system is stuck on wireless for now which because of the ways wireless negotiates connections I get about 12-16mb down and about 22-23mb up on a standard 54mpbs wireless networking connection. Either way ping is 5-7ms to the nearest speedtest.net server which is 100 miles away.

I'm in now only New Zealand, which has crap internet at the best of times, I'm classified as Rural, so I get horrible broadband. 2.74 dl, 0.72 up and a ping of 166. Ouch.
I get it from Telecom NZ (which I don't think you care about, as I assume you're in Ameeerica) which used to be a govt company, but then they sold it (bastards) and they put in cheaparse copper cables, which are wearing through now. About ten k's down the road they have fibre optic cables while I sit here with my internet that goes off whenever it is windy (and if you know Auckland, that's.. all the time..)

My hard wired PC gets a download speed of about 9.5 megs, my wireless laptop in the basement gets just under 4 megs and my tablet gets 14 megs download, when using wireless. They all come in close to 2 megs for upload speed.
