Did anyone in the Bay Area feel last night's quake?

I figured it was at least a 5.0 if it was near us. My wife and I were at Circuit City in Concord looking at Camcorders with a the sales associate when the light shaking started. The second I began to feel it my wife goes "what the hell is that?" and I told her it's an earthquake and then it hit really hard! It totally felt like it went side to side one time real hard and I actually watched all of the items on hooks on display totally move back in fourth during the sharp jolt. Man some people were freaking out and one guy totally start running like Carl Lewis to the front doors :yikes: When we went to Target afterwards that's all people were talking about.

I was telling someone just the other day this weather is quite strange for this time of the year. I sure hope we don't have a freaking earthquake Remember the weather before the 89' quake. It was very hot and muggy for that time of the year. One thing about last night's quake is that when we felt it I knew that we were almost sitting on top of it or it was a very strong distant quake. I figured that we were sitting on top of it since it was over in probably less than 5 seconds including the slight shaking before hand. I am pretty much intrigued by quakes how they work, animals behavior, moon, tide level, the weather, feelings I have etc. Everytime there is a quake afterwards I can look back and notice something wasn't quite right before. Animals usually give good clues. For instance pet birds are very quite about 24hrs or so before one hits. About a day before the Decemeber 2004 quake in South Asia I noticed there were a lot of missing animals at my work and there was dead silence at night. How could an animal pick on something halfway across the world It's really awesome that animals can pick up on this type of stuff. Did anyone on here in this general area notice your pet acting a little strange yesterday day before the quake? Here's what we came home to. Some cd's fell off my computer desk. Also the center channel speaker in the bedroom fell off the tv and there were a couple of coffee mugs that almost fell out of the cupboard when I opened the doors to check. No damage though.

I was officially a 4.2, too small for the major outlets to take a lot of notice. I've never been in an earthquake, it must have been exciting!

I remember my first earthquake when I was living in the Bay Area. It was late at night, I remember the trash cans banging together and then the hole room began to rock back forth... nothing else like it! I almost kinda miss it... almost Glad everyone is okay.

I live in San Jose and I didn't feel it. Then again, if anything happens while I'm sleeping I'd sleep through it. House fire on my street, police chase, drunk driver hitting the house next to ours, shooting a few apartments down from mine, slept through it all

I remember '89 though, I was almost 8 when it happened, and it scared the crap out of me.

Judging from the CD's it looks more like my dog got loose in your place than an earthquake....I guess I have one or two a day then because the dog strikes at least once a day. :

Hey Jorgemonkey, I'm the same way, slept through the neighbors house burning, OUR house getting hit by a drunk driver. But worse, when I was on the fire dept and ambulance I always slept through the home alerts and pagers. Once I slept through a multiple dispatch where the county set the tones off 6 times, the cops beat on my door trying to get me to respond. It turned out there was a 5 vehicle wreck in front of my apartment...no one injured, but MY truck got hit too. I slept through the whole thing. The county even tried calling me....I was too busy snoring as I worked night shift. The guy who caused the wreck slept through it too as he fell asleep driving

That quake didn't really count, although I did feel it. The last serious Bay Area quake was back in 1990, when I was at Candlestick Park, awaiting World Series game 3, between the Giants and A's. Game canceled, and replaced by the most miserable traffic jam I can remember.
