    Things I can do.
    1. I can cook. Quite well, actually.
    2. I can repair a hole in the wall.
    3. I can travel on my own (you'd be surprised, some people can't)
    4. If ever attacked by someone with a knife, I can (theoretically) disarm them and proceed to mortally wound them.

Life skills, you know, the basics. Thinks I will teach my kids.

    Things I cannot do.

    1. Change a tire.

That's really all the comes to mind right now. Guess which one I needed today?

Fortunately, dh drove 45 minutes out of his way to come and do it for me.

I am woman, hear me roar,"help me with this tire".
Glad you got it fixed and are ok.
I can't repair a hole in the wall...well maybe but I'd have to look up how.

Actually, changing a tire is easy. I had learned to do it long before I learned how to drive. Then again, if you were talking about changing a tire of a cement truck....

    My score
    1. I can cook : Not really
    2. I can repair a hole in the wall : Ask me another one
    3. I can travel on my own : Yes
    4. If ever attacked by someone with a knife, I can (theoretically) disarm them and proceed to mortally wound them : That's not me at all
    5. Change a tire : Not any more. There is a fantastically complicated wheel lock system on my car and last time I couldn't figure out how to get the wheel off. I now travel with an instant tyre repair canister in the glove compartment

My wife is an ok cook, not like my mom, but thats another story.
On the other hand, my wife can tell you all the parts of and engine and tires are no problem for her...Infact, she has helped me work on my race cars and kicks butt..In fact, I find it extremely sexy when she is under the hood of her car working on the engine. Yep all 5'2'' inches of her....I will look for some pictures of her / us...especially when we where in high school....heck, she used to street race...She once got a ticket for going 145mph In my turbo Z...Oh, man if she read this, she would kill me....:p

kinda like pain. I'm sure giving birth was painful, but they give you a cute little baby to take home. I know it was painful, but I can't remember the pain.

Appendicitis, I can remember the pain clear as day, and they only happened exactly a month apart.

Not only did he drive 45 minutes to change the tire, but he didn't even comment once on what a pain the butt it was and how it interruped his day. Changed the tire, packed up the flat, and said "do just the girls have karate tonight, or do you as well?"

    Ironic this showed up today.....

    I can do about 35 of the 50. Some that I can't...

Change a tire (which we've already established)
jump start a car (hello, can't even change a tire!)
end a date without making promises (okay, so being married, I don't do a lot of dating, but I'm applying this to lunch dates with friends or business lunches. I'm a sucker, I know it. Can't get out of there without committing to something I don't want to do)

    Just curious,
Do you not have a cell phone nor road service option on your car insurance? If not, why not?
Very handy option whenever dh or someone is not around, ie. in the winter time with snow and ice around. Also joining a car club is a great option.

I do have a cell phone. Which is how I called dh. We haven't needed road service so far, tho it might be something to look into.

Honestly, I try not to leave the city limits, and I have a fairly large family. Someone is always around. :D

Well, here's one I can't - count. I lost track... Probably about the same number and one I know for sure I failed miserably on was hooking up a home entertainment system. I took it apart to put it into the new cabinet and have no clue how all the small amount of basic stuff we have goes back together. Close enough... I can set up a PA system for a band, but this stuff makes no sense to me.

So, you would rather put someone out from doing what they are doing to come rescue you if a problem would occurr eh? Road service would have arrived, changed your tire, put air into it, wished you good day/night whatever would have been appropiate and no one would have been put out. As Mr. Spock would have told Capt. Kirk, jim, it is illogical in this day and age to be without road service.

    That could be!!

Also, if you knew my family, you'd know they'd not feel put out. Granted, I'd be getting teased about it for the next 20 years, but they wouldn't be put out.
