Safari on Windows?
Has anyone tried the Safari Web Browser beta for Windows? I took a risk this weekend and installed it on my machine. So far, its pretty slick, but I don't think it will replace firefox.

I use Firefox for the extensions. Until another browser offers the same functionality, I'll keep on keepin' on with FF. I think most FF users are in the same boat.

Re: Safari on Windows?
Installed Safari and deleted it within 5 minutes.
Totally non-functional, it won't pick up proxy settings.
I see no reason to change from FireFox.
But many reasons to ditch IE.

Re: Safari on Windows?
it is still a beta, Paul, but I'm pretty sure that there's proxy stuff in there, you may not have found it though. There certainly is full proxy functionality in Safari's mac os version, and they're the same stuff just ported.

Re: Safari on Windows?
I found an article that said it would not auto-detect and install proxy.
Until a later beta.
So I uninstalled it because it didn't work at all on my work PC.
We're locked down and only auto-config works.

Re: Safari on Windows?
The PC version of Safari has been almost universally panned. Maybe a non-beta will fare better, who knows? Speculation is that Safari is being developed for the PC because of the iPhone and is not meant to be a replacement for better browsers.
IMHO, Apple has never done a good job with Windows software. Besides, Firefox and Opera are signifigantly better even on a Mac.
Disclaimer: I use Opera full time on Windows.

Re: Safari on Windows?
I find Opera lacking in many ways, though generally a good browser. FF on Mac is IMHO bloated and nowhere near as good as its windows counterpart.
I'm currently using Safari 3 and the nightly Webkit builds (nightly.webkit.org), which are available for both the mac and windows versions of Safari now. These builds are constantly improving the stability of the browser, correcting bugs, and enhancing functionality.
While using webkit nightlies my overall browser stability is noticeably better than the regular safari 2, which was fine for me most of the time.

Re: Safari on Windows?
With firefox I can't ask for more, extensions and adds on are so cool and very useful
I only browse IE and Safari only to check how does my site look on this browsers.
