waiting for the other shoe to drop

    /Rant on

So today started like every other day. Woke up with the kids, got my cup of tea, sat down at the computer.. and then 10 minutes later my whole house felt like it was on the move. Then I hear my wife downstairs yelling "I can't believe you hit my F*&%$#G HOUSE!!!"

I get downstairs to find that a lumber truck was making a delivery next door (shared driveway) and on the way out forgot to lower the flatbed lift and took out the corner of my front porch. Insurance company gets called, contractor gets called, police get called to report the accident.

    Time for breakfast.

Then about 45 min ago I get a call from my Credit Card company. They ask if I was away for the weekend in Detroit and I tell them yes I was in Michigan for the NASCAR race. Then they tell me to check my wallet because my card is being swiped all over the place so I look and sure enough it isn't there. I go out to my truck to find my GPS, Car phone charger, one of my cameras, my power inverter, a brand new bottle of cologne from the duty free and a copy of my drivers license have been stolen from my truck along with the credit card that was being swiped everywhere.

Called the police again. I get... umm sir we were just at your house a few hours ago. I tell them yes.. but we only just noticed the theft after the call from the credit card company and I wanted you to know that my drivers license has been stolen in case it gets used for any illegal activities. Oh they say... well... someone will call you back and we'll take a telephone report on this one. Fine either way I need to call the insurance company yet again and tell them that a second incident regarding our house insurance and our vehicle insurance has now happened.

So now I sit here wondering when the hell the other shoe is going to drop and what the third thing is going to be....they always happen in threes damnit.

I don't know Jaedon well enough to say this, but I'm thinking that would have been about all he needed to put him over the edge..........

Re: waiting for the other shoe to drop

Sheesh Jeadon, and I thought my dad calling and telling me he just bought me a car then 5 miutes later finding out my Jeep won't start, then after getting back from the store and driving the truck I realize one of the pole barn posts that I had put in earlier in the day was 4 inches too far forward and has to be moved or the entire front of the pole barn will be off. Figureing I'd take a break I go back to the truck to go to a friends and find it has a flat, go to get a coke to drink while changing the flat and no cokes. Back to the truck I find I am also out of smokes.....
I got the tire changed only to find the spare was flat, broken valve stem from a tree branch during the tornado is my guess. Take the battery out of the truck and put it in the Jeep, starts right up, load the spare from the truck and off to the store to get smokes and cokes then the tire shop to get the tire fixed..... another fun day. Oh, and a deputy had to give me a jump at the store because the Jeep wouldn't start again.... it was fine after that though

HA! Jeeps are stubborn critters - right now my whole instrument cluster is out. I have backlight, but no gauges and no (gasp) stereo. I've been playing a very tense game of getting a little bit of gas every day and not passing anyone on the highway

Panel went out just before my battery did - I thought a new battery might fix it because they worked just fine when I hooked up to jump, but no dice :mad2:

There is no number 3. A clogged toilet would probably be a number 2.

Ouch buddy! That doesn’t sound like a fun day, at all. Hope you get all your stuff squared away with no problems. Stay positive instead of waiting for the next bad thing to happen.

Re: waiting for the other shoe to drop

Well it took me a while to get back to this but it turns out #3 ended up finding out that the theif also stole my favourite black hoodie from the truck as well. This happens to be a good thing in a way as I have never seen another one like it so if I do I know who to beat the crap out of for stealing all my stuff.

Even my idiot neighbors who usually are a pain in the ass on a good day decided to play it cool and stay away .....especially since it was their lumber delivery that caused the accident in the first place.

Lumber yard is paying for the repairs and since my cousin is the contractor he added some pain and anguish money to the quote which he will then forward to me when the job is paid for.

But man.... am I ever glad I didn't run out of coffee =)

Hey, Erik - at least you're getting free miles on the odometer

Jaedon - if it makes you feel any better, I backed my boat into the side of my garage once. Just about knocked the entire stone corner out. Both the boat and home were insured by the same company on separate policies. So I had to pay two deductibles (they laughed when I tried to argue that it was one accident).
