    Planet Earth
    Seen it?

We are about an hour or two in...it's approximately 550 minutes long.

"over 2000 days in the field, 40 camera men across 200 locations, the ultimate portrait of our planet" according to the back of the box.

Love it. Absolutely amazing. We were standing around at Best Buy one day and it was showing on some of the tvs. the eldest and I stood and watched for a bit. Dh picked it up one day while he was out. Seriously, one of the coolest programs I've seen in a while.

We have the set, and it's incredible. There is actually a post on this in the NW forum somewhere. When I first saw the series on the Discovery Channel, I knew I had to get the DVD set for my kids. I hope we still have DVD players around when we have kids! Did you get the version with the British guy narrating, or Sigourney Weaver? The Discovery Channel had Weaver, but we got the version with the British guy. I think he's a little more interesting to listen too.

I've seen some of the episodes on Discovery and it is pretty amazing.
One scene I remember especially is flying alongside some ducks or gesse migrating over Europe.

Yeah, I watched it when it originally aired... last year, I think? I can't remember. Anyway, pretty mind-blowing stuff. One of the best things I'd seen on television in a long time.

It is just not the same without Sir David Attenborough.
Yes, another one, brother of the actor The Rt. Hon. The Lord Attenborough (Richard).

David Attenborough has been the voice and face of nature documentaries for me since I can remember. He started working for the BBC six years before I was born.

    Life on Earth
    The Living Planet
    The Trials of Life
    Life in the Freezer
    The Private Life of Plants
    The Life of Birds
    The Life of Mammals
    Life in the Undergrowth
    Life in Cold Blood

I recommend also "Life on Air" covering his remarkable broadcasting career.
