Monkey Hanky-Panky

This was just way too funny for me to ignore. It turns out that male monkeys pay for sex! Yes, folks, monkeys hire prostitutes. The weirdness of it all.

"...a group of about 50 long-tailed macaques in Kalimantan Tengah, Indonesia, traded grooming services for sex with females; researchers, who studied the monkeys for some 20 months, found that males offered their payment up-front, as a kind of pre-sex ritual. It worked."

Interesting that they interpret it as payment for sex rather than foreplay.

that also means all female monkeys ARE prostitutes....


the funny thing is before i saw this article (on yahoo a few days ago) i had just given blood with a friend and we were talking about paying for sex ( as one of the pre-questions is have you ever recieved money, drugs, or other things for sex...) we were debating whether common relationship things such as dinner or things like flowers, jewlery etc
counted as payment for sex.
