Lighthearted Tidbit About...

...American Idol. The new season starts soon which I will probably miss again. I'm just not a fan, didn't watch any of last season's show. But I do remember this guy and the discussions we had about him here. I found this on CNN this morning.

That guy Taylor Hicks has been dropped by his record comany. His record sales have been in the toilet and he is the first idol to not have a hit. If you remember, I said that if people could not see him having spasms as he sings there would be no sales. I was right!

FWIW, another winner, Ruben Studdard has been a dud as well. He was also dropped a while back. It appears that, in general, NOT winning is many times more lucrative and successful than coming in first! Which winners have been big hits? I can only think of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. How many years has this show run? I have no idea, but much more than two.

I wondered about Ruben Studdard.

It's all very interesting.

I thought Taylor Hicks was too close to Michael McDonald and Ruben too much like Luther Vandross. However, I did enjoy Ruben and bought his CD. Never in a million years would I buy anything by Taylor Hicks.

Daughtry is one of my favorite bands. I forget what place he came in. Not to mention he's exceptionally cute. He's no Taylor Hicks. :)

I was not at all surprised when I saw that article this morning. I don't watch the show regularly, but I did see him a couple times and I thought he was good. Not anything I would buy or add to my music collection, but he was entertaining.

The only thing I ever heard from him after the show, was a Ford commercial he did right after he won.

What ever happened to Sanjia?

Did Phantasia ever do anything? She won season 3 I think?

Yeah the season with Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks was the best ever though. Of the top 10 singers, I think half have had life after AI. Except Taylor :) Chris Daughtry of course is huge. Kathryn McPhee is on the cover of Cosmo or whatever every few months. Even Bucky and Kelly Pickler have had moderate success with their country albums.

Kelly Pickler has been making a name for herself after the show. :)

Fantasia released two albums. I think she's very talented.
