    A River Too Hot...

A nuclear reactor at Brown's Ferry in Alabama had to be shut down because the river water used for cooling was too hot! This is the first time this has happened in the USA.

With daytime temperatures the hottest they have been in at least 20 years, the TVA is being forced to buy energy on the open market thus raising prices for its customers.

I caught the end of a story on NPR this morning about this or a similar problem. They were talking about France, but this Alabama story may have been what brought up the topic. In France, they get 80% of there electricity from nuclear power and they are beginning to have similar problems. So, let's all get cracking on that cold fusion thing.

But wouldn't it be much too hot for cold fusion... :-o

Cold fusion is what you get when you ask a mere chemist to do a physicist's job!
