Jets' Favre throws SIX TD passes...
I didn't think it was possible, but the legend grows... :cornut:

Now, even as an ex-New Yorker, I'm not much of a Jets fans (Giants all the way!), and I doubt that Green Bay is ready to give up yet on Aaron Rodgers, but you have to admit that Brett Favre throwing six touchdown passes Sunday against the Cardinals was pretty amazing, and must have some folks in Green Bay scratching their heads...

Especially after the week's drama over his bad ankle and whether he'd even play against Arizona.

In only his fourth start for the Jets, Favre not only tied the Jets record for TD passes in a game (another somewhat famous gun slinger named Joe Namath), but set a personal best.

Nope, he never threw this many TDs in a game in all his years with the Pack.

And so, it would appear Mr. Favre has figured out in a hurry what it takes to make an good impression on the New York fans and media...

Now, if can manage to do this week in and week out, I'd say he'll be a hit.

Oh, of course he has to win the Superbowl as well... :D

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. I also saw that Arizona didn't really even show up for the game. :D

Rodgers is doing okay, I think what you'd expect from someone their first time out as a starting qb. Man, he is injury prone, tho.

As far as his impression in NY, yeah, great now, but how long do you think they will take his retiring drama every year? :D

I love that he's in NY, and doing well. Gives us one more game to watch!

Fair enough. BTW, be thankful the Jets are not going to wear those hideous Titans throwback uniforms every week!

I agree: they should throw them back... :D

I think The Pack had to expect this. Anytime you trade a veteran QB for a rookie, you're going to have at least one "rebuilding season".

Steve and adina are both correct. The key to Favre's success in NY is going to be consistancy- not only in his game, but in his demeanor.

Good to see he's still got the gun though. I have to admit that I've been watching the NY games this year, but have yet to watch The Pack play (sorry adina).

Well, Rodgers had a sprained shoulder, but still plans to play this weekend. From the games I've watched so far, consistancey is the problem in Green Bay as well. Sometimes they are really on, and sometimes they are really off....

They didnt trade him for a rookie. He formally retired and then they replaced him. Then he want to come back but they already gave his job to someone else.

They had a chance to re-sign him and elected not to. They chose to play Rodgers instead of going with Favre.

Now maybe it's just the people in my circle of friends, but a rose by any other name........

Still, if the word 'trade' offends anyone, then I apologize. It was not meant as an intentional barb, but simply the way some of us perceive the situation. I'll be more careful in the future.

Need to remember here that Favre elected to retire. Thus making the team draft in a different way and get ready for "post Favre". If Favre "changes" his mind before the draft - I see the Packers welcoming him back with open arms. Since he waited til a couple of weeks before camps opened up and they had already drafted for having to go with a new QB, how can you expect them to just bring him back? I give the Packers credit for sticking to their plan of moving on without Favre.

As far as Rodgers being more "injury prone", lets remember that Favre had his share of injuries and played through them. Heck we heard about his thumb for what - 5 years ? Remember that Rodgers brings an aspect to the game that Favre hasn't had in a long time - the ability to run more.

There's the key, Favre played thru them, Rodgers spends a portion of each game being x-rayed. :D

Had Favre just retired, no one would care if Aaron Rodgers wins 6 games or 16, because it would be his first year starting. But because of all the retirement drama, it looks like they sent Favre away, in favor of Rodgers.

Thing is - players like Favre are far and few between now a-days.
