    I want to the paint
Ok, I want to paint my floorboards. While I've searched around I have only found information on painting them cream which I don't really want. I want to the paint them black; my walls are going to be metallic silver if I can get it. My main concern is do I need is what is the procedure of doing it, what type of paint and do I need to worry about the gaps in between the floorboards as this is not ground base. Any tips will be appreciated.

Hmmm, sound like lyrics to a Stones song... :D

Julia, you don't mention anything about photograhy in your post. If it's simply an off-topic question, that's cool (a bit odd for a first post, but whatever) and this is the best place for it.

If you're painting your floor and walls to create a shooting studio, let us know and we'll move the thread to the Studio Forum...

prime them (with primer) and use a kitchen/bath paint. It's cleans easier.

btw...those wood floors are not the only thing between you and your downstairs neighbor. So the fact that they have spaces is not an issue. Although if you have downstairs neighbors, it's possible you rent, and I can guarantee no landlord wants you to paint the hardwood floors black.

Brings back memories... My first apartment was in a house built in the 1870's. The floors had been sanded so many times that they couldn't handle being refinished again. The landlords painted the which looked pretty good when I moved in - until a couple weeks later when the paint started coming off because they didn't sand the floors very well first. Ahh, those were the days...
