There's always political and religious chat sites.
    http://www.buzzen.com/chat/

I don't mind them until people will not listen to or respect others opinions which, unfortunatly, is just about always.

Com'on, we're all adults here - can't we engage in reasonable discussion without being censored? (I think Frog has already answered that question, though.. LOL)

Too many dismiss and take the weather too lightly.

I can go for weeks with out earning a salary when the weather is bad. Like now, I've had 10 boat races in a row cancelled because of extreme weather in the last two weeks in eastern Australia ... if I don't perform I just don't get payed and it all depends on the weather. There is nothing for coming second as a professional sportsman and it all relies on the weather and me reading it and interpreting change before others do.

Go tell your bosses that if you don't beat his competition to a pulp, you will not except a salary for how ever many weeks on end until you do ... that should add some urgency to your day, don' you think? ... and do it outside and at night and in fog within shipping channels and when you hear big seas on swell coming at night but you have no idea from where they are coming from until they hit you and you thank god you could hold on ... and you curse the BOM for another lame weather prediction ... weather can be shocking and affecting.

My life revolves around having an understanding of weather conditions, wind wise and me reading what's around the boats. To me the weather is everything. I even study historical weather patterns in the places that I visit to race boats if historical data is available.

I can describe wind and interpret its characteristics on water and how it transitions from shore to sea like very few can ... I even see pressure in the wind and when wind is thick or thin or when wind is almost non existant and find pressure within non existant winds and at what angles the wind is splaying within a gust before a gust hits and about the oscillations and the phases of a particular prevailing wind and the gusts and shifts that might last only 2- 5 seconds. Boat racing is a game measured in 1/10ths of seconds. There are 20 1/10ths of a second in 2 seconds of wind.

I can discuss the importance of weather for months ... and I do at this time of year.

    Warren.

Thankyou Frog ... now for my thoughts on religion.

There are only 2 Gods. Neptune and Aeolis. The God of the sea and the God of wind ... now I'm back onto the weather?

OK for a thread on how awesome Adina is as long as she goes back to having an avatar with her true face. It's not that I don't like the cartoon caracter one but the photos were really beautiful.

The political discussions were really boring. I didn't pay too much attention to them. This subject borders on finance which I do find interesting, however.

The religious discussions were almost - in bad taste. In my part of the world, religious beliefs are a private matter. You don't beat your breast in public about them, especially when there are at least three major religions that co-exist in the same society (Christian, Muslim, Jewish)

That reminds me of the last wedding I shot. We were all ready to go off to the event and suddenly - everything stopped for half an hour. The teenage son of one of the families was a devout - obessional - Muslim, and he had locked himself in a room to do his prayers. His family was completely exasperated with him, and he looked like a fool. I guess he'll grow out of it..

By all means be religious but - keep it to yourself.

I agree -- many of the argument threads were childish and in very bad taste. I have never understood the "My religion's better than your Religion" debate, not to mention that some people believe in killing in the name of God, the ultimate hypocrisy.

    I just miss the idiocy. :D :p

That one's beautiful. It makes you look about 34, a decent sort of age for a moderator.

Smiling is difficult in self-portraits but I'm working on it. I do all my self-portraits with a mirror behind the camera and I put a picture of someone I feel special about on the mirror and gaze into the eyes, imagine she is there..

p.s. If I've grossly overestimated your age, like if you're 24 and not 34 - you will probably still look that way when you're 34..

Adina you are a very pretty woman, I had you pegged as mid to late 20's. You must not be a smoker...

Ive been a member of quite a few forums, and this by quite a huge margin offered the most variety in opinions on politics/religion. Thats what I liked about it though, variety is the spice of life - its pretty boring for us to be agreeing with each other all the time, eh? It also increases the gravity of the controversy too.... hmmm...
