How early is too early for paddleboarding?

Last Saturday I showed up to the lake around 6:30 AM thinking it’d be the perfect time to paddleboard… but it was still kind of dark and chilly. I waited it out, but I’m wondering if there’s like a “sweet spot” time people usually aim for in the morning. I’m trying to beat the heat and crowds, but not paddle in the dark either 😅

Yeah, I’ve done the early morning thing too, and honestly I feel like 7:30–8 AM is kind of ideal. Enough light, water’s still calm, and no boat wakes yet. If you’re looking for a solid launch spot, take a look at https://www.bluffcreekmarina.com/. They’ve got calm areas and the scenery’s not bad either. Bring coffee in a thermos — early lake mornings + coffee = perfection.

I’ve never been paddleboarding but it always looks like such a peaceful activity. Especially when the water’s glassy. Maybe I’ll try it this summer.
