How do fetch rewards make money?

I have been on Fetch since 2017, but since I only uploaded five receipts, it must have been very late in December. But I have uploaded every receipt that I can since then. I have never cashed out. I currently have over 43k points. When I have reached 50k, I can cash out for a $50 gift card reward. I will probably choose an Amazon card.
