    Re: some Makah hunt/kill whale

I heard about this on the news being this happened in my area.

I'm so angry about this and sad. I hope each and everyone involved gets the maximum sentence. The whole thing just makes me sad, sad, sad.....:cryin:

how lame, didnt bother me in '99 when they did it legally, but this rogue stuff is stupid. Sure it's not endangered, but this was just a waste, they didnt even use it, apparently this was even outside the provision of the treaty.

I remember in '99 when a jet-skiing protester cut in front of a USCG escort boat and got run over...I still laugh at that (she wasnt seriously injured). It was sad in '99 when they had to have protection while they did their thing, but it's just dumb when they do it illegally.

I think those that did it this time did a lot of damage to their reputation and were probably drunk. But then I also understand their frustration over the legal hassles and red tape holding up their cultural rights for the last eight years.
We moan about the 'poor' whales but fail to understand that they see the whales with different concept as brothers who have given themselves.
People complain about how junky reservations are and how all the natives are drunks yet it is our culture that put them on reservations in remote areas with little employment opportunity unless they want to leave their people and move. When they move they lose their culture and identity.
Yeah its a shame they don't act like 'white' people.

My family's culture, livelihood and identity was taken with the Boldt decision. To this day Indians sit out in front of a small hatchery my Grandfather built with their nets destroying any hopes of putting more salmon into the wild. The Indians have rights to destroy something in a harbor they never lived in and built. It fun to watch them do this as they flip off everyone who passes by.

I guess I wish they would act a little more like me in this instance.

There's no excuse to what just happened with the wale and I hope they are fully prosecuted and end up in jail for the maximum.
