help me out here folks....hotels and internet
I would think that if you are charging $300-$400 a night for your regular hotel rooms (not a suite or anything) that internet would be free. Sadly, I was mistaken. It was an additional $13 a night. But here at the airport, it is free.

We've stayed in hotels that were around $100 a night, and internet has been free. It's free at every local coffee shop in my area. It's free at the bookstores, and even at some restaurants.

Why is it, when you are paying out the butt, they charge you more for internet?

Also, fyi, the hotel I was at had disposable vibrators right next to the candied fruit and cookies. It's sold for $25 as an intimacy kit, and comes with 3 condoms. How funny is that!

Yeah, it's one of life's ironies that the big ticket hotels charge you $2 a minute for phone calls, $4 for the Coke in the mini-bar, and $24 hours a day for parking that you have to use.

Should you care to argue it, you can probably get them to waive that fee. I once left my laptop connected to the Internet when I left for a meeting and they charged me $90. I managed to get them to give it to me free (eventually...)

whilst reading the fine print on my most recent hotel bill i noticed that they automatically add a few dollars to your bill then donate it to charity unless you tell them not to. I have no problems donating to charities but i would like to choose the charities i support and i prefer to donate conciously. the amout of money they must generate by people who don't check would be huge.

Funny how the internet thing works. I guess they figure that most people using it can expense it so it's a good profit maker for them. Everything at an expensive hotel is expensive. Being a cheapskate, I've always thought that room service menus were pretty funny.

Never seen the thing about charities though - and I do read the statements (but maybe not carefully enough!). I don't have a problem with it, and they're likely getting a lot of money by doing this, but I'd rather take care of it myself. Actually it seems a little more shady than the internet fee - at least they tell you what that is.

That's because they want what gets used in Vegas... to stay in Vegas.

Adina, are you talking about using the internet in your room? Most larger hotels have a business center that allows guests either free acess or on an hourly basis...

Now, as far as what hotels should provide for what cost, you have it backwards. My experience has been - the pricier the hotel, the more likely it is they'll have higher charges for all the extras. Guess they figure RICH people can afford it...

BTW, I try to avoid going online when I travel. That's one of the things I usually want a vacation from... :D

I didn't use it at all. I'm not sure if they had a business center. They had a big casino, maybe that's what they use as the business center.

I was going to send some photos home to my kids, but they had to wait. So nothing urgent.

Ok, I'll admit I'm not really a man-of-the-world, so I'm curious. Why would you need condoms with a vibrator? :D :ihih: :arf:

Actually... it's probably just a coincidence. Condoms and a vibrator, here have fun kids. I doubt the implication was that they would be used together.

    Butt...

There is an assumption that amongst the homosexual population there would be a need to wrap a vibrator in latex, if the vibrator is made of a porous material (think bacteria control here.)

Scarey, how much I think I know about these things sometimes... :blush2:

Okay, I think it was a vibrating ring, for his and her pleasure. I do know that the box was weighted, and if you held it for more than 60 seconds, they charged your room for it. We had a good laugh all weekend about it.

Uh, yeah, me too (after all, as you point out, I did live in Miami). All my "sex toy" comments were in jest, but thanks for the detailed explanation... :biggrin5:

Gone in sixty seconds, eh? Well, in that case I'd be fine. I'd only need thirty...
