The Crazy Things You Find in Stores

So there is this huge hobby store about 45 minutes away from where I live that I like making a trek to every once in a while. Yesterday was one of those whiles. I'm here peaking through the transformers section and I notice this interesting box. I'm like "Hmm." This remake looks an awful lot like the boxes from the 80s that I remembered from when I was a kid. I pick it up and am like "Hey look, its Hound! He was always hard to find."

I'm flipping through the box and am extremely impressed with how authentic they made the box look. I mean, it looks like a Generation 1 Transformers box, but I mean it looks EXACTLY like it. I look at the back, check out the date...1984! Woohah!! WTF! Did I just step through a time hole that I didn't know about? Finding THIS in a store? I look around and realize people are not wearing 80s clothes, so I must still be back in good old 2010.

I ask around and turns out that the store owner has a warehouse full of "old junk" that he is getting rid of. Okay then. Go to checkout chuckling the entire way while I pay $12.95 for 26yr old Hound. I get home, check out eBay, and it seems most people pay anywhere between $75-$200 for him mint in box. Hehe.

Am I going to eBay him? I doubt it. I still have my old Transformers from back then that I have in a display case. While tempting to cash in on Hound, he will make an excellent addition to my current collection.

Great find! At one point I had almost the complete gen 1 line. I am kicking myself for having thrown out/given them all away. I used to get nothing but Transformers for birthdays and Christmas, and I'd talk my mom into buying me one almost every week. I had all the Decepticons, Ariealbots, Dinobots, Insecticons, etc. I even had an original Megatron that I never opened because I bought one and then received one for a gift the same year. I was digging around in a box of my old junk a few months ago and I found an Optimus Prime hand with his rifle. Man, I miss those toys, they were the best ever.

I wouldn't advertise this. Everyone in Miami is going to be in that store looking to see what else he brings out. I know nothing about transformers history but glad someone that appreciates them found this.
