Biggest pet peeve? (non-photography/non-forum ones, I mean)
How come the guy at the grocery store can only fit two items in a plastic bag? I left my house with four bags, which is always more than enough. I came home with 7 or 8. One bag had eggs and a package of shredded cheese. Another had two packages of hamburger buns. And if all they are going to put in a bag is a two liter of soda, I'd just as soon have it not in a bag at all.

    Geez.

A really big one for me is callers whose identity is 'unavailable' on our caller id.
I seldom pick them up and they never leave a message.
The few times I have picked up, no one responds.
One time some guy called and didn't respond at first, so I stayed on and then he answered. I complained that when I answer the phone I expect someone to be there.
He said he was helping a blind employee who had accidently dropped the phone.
Sure, and I was born behind a barn and undiscovered for 3 days too.
    Jerks!

Distracted drivers! If you gotta have a cell phone, for cryin' out loud don't use it while you're driving. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to swerve to avoid someone changing lanes who're too busy yakking on the phone to pay attention to the business at hand. Every state in the union should ban the use of cell phones while driving.:mad2:

    Undertaking.

I was in the outside lane on the way home and saw a car coming up on me at about 90-100mph that's +20 to +30 on me at the legal limit.
So I moved to the inside lane,
Only to find him trying to drive up the inside of me !

    C'mon deathwish or what ?
    I checked my mirrors.
I shoulder checked left to the inside lane.
Still I nearly got wiped out.

If I hadn't been wondering why he wasn't flashing his lights at me, or overtaken on my right already, I might not have spotted him.
Then it would have been an Audi A4 into the scenery, because I certainly wouldn't have stopped my move to the inside until I saw him in my peripheral vision - or until the bang.

Got to be cell phone drivers!

We had a kid run over here in our neighborhood and the driver didn't even know he did it and kept driving. Some other driver had to cut him off to get him to stop.

Appearently he couldn't get his head out of his arse because of the cell phone glued to his ear!

My other one I hate is for single cars to park in double length trailer/boat parking slots. Had a bunch today tying to find my parking spot. Two cars taking up one slot each. You'd think they could have shared the same slot at least and saved one trailer spot but NOooooo.

pre recorded voice systems, there are so many ways you can access the information on those pre recorded phone systems these days that they are largely useless. I only pick up the phone when i actually want to talk to a person! grrr

I email a younger member of the family a question and instead of responding in an email reply, they answer your question the next time they see you at a family gathering.

A new one also is askng a question via email and they respond to me by making a comment on my MySpace page which I never check.

Being asked questions when the answer is obvious. For instance. I will be in the driveway, filling the lawn mower with gas, and someone, usually a family member, will ask, what are you doing or are you going to mow?.... um, I'm baking a cake, what does it look like I'm doing.

    Also:
    1. People who forward jokes that have already been forwarded 7 times. Doesn't anyone know how to cut and paste?

    2. People who send you 'tribute to our armed forces (or similar inspirational messages)' and those tired old ' this really works!' emails.

    3. Door-to-door solicitors. Just once, I'd like to follow one of those people home, and badger them.

    4. Fluctuating gasoline prices for no apparant reason.

    5. People who mispronounce or misspell my last name. There is no T in Seward.

    6. Businesses that expect you to pay for their mistakes.

Relatives who know you take lots of pictures but will sarcastically comment on how they never see the photos you take....but when you finally upload it to a place for them to see it like Snapfish...they don't make an effort to view them nor say thanks for taking some of the best pictures they will ever see of their family.....don't get me started.

Complainers. No, that's my pet peeve. :) I'm not talking about stuff like what we're doing here, but more like people who constantly complain about things and won't lift a finger to fix whatever the situation is. Everybody has the right to be upset about something, but do something about it. For example, people who refuse to take 5 minutes to vote but have plenty of time to complain about politicians...

A green link will probably show up when I type words like digital and cameras (or other photo terms). It automatically creates a link where you can check out other info on that word, and this site gets a kickback everytime you click on it. I don't use them either...

Edit: Not showing up here for some reason, maybe because it's the OT forum. Check out the help forum; they're running rampant.

That's another pet peeve of myself, I guess. Asking a question and then realizing the answer.

What drives me nuts are drivers who come to a dead stop to wave other people in. What drives me even more crazy is when they are waving them into oncoming traffic. Just go already and quit messing with the flow of traffic. GAH! :mad2:

Use of Fog Lights in clear conditions.

I mean seriously, it illuminates a small space between front bumper and where the headlights begin to illuminate the road, completely useless in clear conditions, but quite blinding and distracting to other drivers.

In my Trans Am they are on whether I want them or not. It's just the car, not the driver. My Suburban also has running lights that I cannot turn off.

    Fog Lights

Like that? So if you want to have your regular headlights on, you have a total of 4 bright lights on the front of your car?

If so, I hate your car. :D

And running lights dont bother me, in fact, I use the "optional" running lights on my Volvo, if I choose to have my headlights on, they automatically turn off when I turn the key to the off position, but I also have 2 separate fog light switches (front and rear)

Fog lights are a good one - especially aftermarket ones that the owner didn't take the time to aim correctly... My Jetta has daytime running lights which are the headlights on at 80% brightness. Surprisingly, the bulbs didn't seem to burn out any faster than any other car I've had without DRL's.

Oh, and Frog - those are forum-related pet peeves. I'm afraid you'll have to find something else to complain about here. :D

    OMGLOLOL!

No, not like that. They are the yellow ones down below. The bright ones white ones I turn on at dusk and the full blown headlights when they do not do the job any more. So there are actually 6 lights on the front of my car, but only when it's dark out.

I have no clue about the running lights on the burb. They are clear, but if one passes you look at it. They aren't bright. The actual fog lights on the burb cannot be turned on unless your headlights are.

Thanks for the laugh tonight. :D

yellow fog lights dont bother me, I think what you're thinking of anyway are the parking lights, the amber corner lights that look cool right?

DRLs are awesome, but I do hate SUVs :P (not as much as clear weather fogs though, so ignore that line)
