    Best gift?

Yes, Christmas is about family and giving and the birth of Christ and all that, but did you get anything good?

I got a toaster oven. In June of 2005, when we started our kitchen project, we threw our old one away. I've been wanting one since, as my very favorite food in the whole wide world is PB&J on toast. New I have a shiney new one, with lots of dials, and it even fits a 9 inch pie pan.

The most touching gift was a sterling cross my 18 yo made me. On the back he engraved the fist initial of the names of himself, his three siblings and his Dad. I'll cherish it for the rest of my life. There's nothing like a gift from the heart whether it is tangible or not.

My mom got me a tote full of bird seed. I love feeding and watching the birds, especially this time of year.

My wife surprised me with Photoshop CS3 Extended.

A nice wireless trigger for my studio strobes, not pocket wizards, but at least there is one less cable to trip over and the garage door doesn't go up at the same time. Also a pair of 60" umbrellas to use on an upcoming gig shooting dance portraits over a 3 day recital period.

I also got about $50 in Starbucks cards....birthday/Xmas combo.

No photography stuff this year. Although I've been looking at the pocket wizards...I hate that cord attached to my camera. Feels like an anchor.

Yikes, landmark post # and I use it to talk about my really great toaster oven...tomorrow I will have to take a really good picture. Talk about pressure.

I got the Starbucks cards also, my students always pack those in at Christmas, especially with the semester ending in two weeks. You'll love going cordless, I don't need anything else getting in the way of my size 12 EEE's. congrats on the 3K by the way, very cool.

    Re: Best gift?

For photography related I would say the best was my Holga and couple books on B&W film techniques.

On a more sentimental note I received a few family heirlooms from my great-grandmother's estate: a vase, a cookie jar, and a candy dish.

    Re: Best gift?

Which Crivellos did you go to? I've been to the one on Silver Spring, and the one in Brookfield (which was the most impressive). I don't think the one on Capitol is ever open, every time I drive past, it looks like it should be boarded up.

I've been meaning to get out there, but now I think I'm going to wait until school starts back up.

I've got those knives too. We got a really good deal on a set of them. Imagine being able to actually slice a tomato, instead of saw it. It was very exciting.

I always visit the one in brookfield. Most of the people are very nice in there. I knew they had another store somewhere but never bothered trying to find it.

They are beauties, but they aren't the Pro S series, but rather the fine edge. My father in law got one Pro S carver for what all three of my fine edge cost.

But Jesus was born in October

My new D70s was partly a Christmas gift, so that's the biggie this year. Other than that, gift certificates to clothing stores so I can look nifty and cool. And, my friend bought me 13 Going on 30 so we can learn the Thriller dance together.

Don't think any less of me

Pssh, I had GH3 on Release. I was the 4th person out of the store.

Regardless, I got a couple shirts, money and of course, a Canon 50mm 1.8.

    I want to marry it.

I always heard it was in early summer.

In any case, Christmas is really the celebration of the birth of Santa Claus. He has lived a long, long time. I remember reading that he used to deliver toys in a bright red suit of armor. He also left behind Best Buy hand-written manuscripts describing bargains at the store in the Ye Olde Tech Mall.

Ditto. Also got a red pod (the beanbag that fits on the tripod mount). I'm finding that to be a handy little device also.

Also got bumpers and a keyboad cover for my MacbookPro, A Western Digital 1TB Mybook, and various gift cards.

    Re: Best gift?

So far my favorite has been the N scale train stuff my dad gave me.

WHen he was my age he sold his HO stuff to buy N scale when he got married. Couldn't fit a big layout in his apartment. Now that I'm married and in an apartment, I gave him my HO stuff, and he gave me his N scale. Now I've got about 20something feet of track, 15 cars, and about 4-5 engines

Expect lots of train photos when I start working on my project. I need to get it done by April though before the little one gets here
