Anyone got suggestions for a warm long weekend getaway?
I'm thinking that I may take a few days off work to take a long weekend vacation around my birthday in March. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking someplace relaxing and warm (cause Chi-town is not warm in early March), and if there are good photo opportunities, that'd be nice too :)

Cara -- San Diego isn't cold in March - indeed, it isn't cold anytime. But it isn't really hot here either - matter of fact, not even in the summer some years. This year, the average July temp was 65.8 F ! It's also our rainy season if you can call it that ... we get no rain between June and Oct. Photo ops abound in S Cali.

San Diego sounds great in March...

That might be something to think about, visit the really warm areas during this time as it won't be the sweltering heat of the summer.

If I were going somewhere like Rome I'd sure like to spend more than a long weekend!

I agree with Southern California! Weather is awesome. You can drive up the coast, plenty of photo ops.

Btw, I may have misspoke before: Oct - end of May is S. Cali's "rainy" season if you can call it that ... (they average about 10-13 inches of rain a year, which isn't much). There's no rain in the summer. Cruising the coastal highway is a great experience and has plenty of photo ops.

Thanks guys :) Right now it seems to be a toss up between California and the Florida Keys.

Any suggestions for good mid-price range resorts in Southern California?

I love California! Especially the weather. We went to SanFrancisco many years ago and it's now one of my favorite places - gotta love those trolley car rides! We then took the A1 route (I believe that's the one) to San Diego and a few other places. Photo ops everywhere! We also took in Yosemite while we were in the area. Awesome!

Jekyll Island Ga. St Simon or Tybee Island and see the wild horses. Shooting stars on the beach. No Wal-Mart, Wendy's or Macdonalds. Driftwood beach is beautiful.
